Solidarity with the Philippines

Solidarity with the Philippines

Not much to say today because I would prefer you to read and support our campaign of solidarity with the people of the Philippines in protecting their infants, mothers and families from the aggressive marketing of the baby food industry.

The Philippines Government has introduced new regulations for the marketing of baby foods. These are being challenged in the courts by US formula manufacturers. The US Chamber of Commerce has written to the President encouraging poltical interference in the case, with apparent success. The court overturned an earlier decision and granted a restraining order, preventing the regulations coming into force.

Please support our Campaign for Ethical Marketing by signing our on-line petition of solidarity with the people of the Philippines and by sending messages to the heads of the corporations and the US Chamber of Commerce.

I will say a bit more about how this campaign is being rolled out and the experiences from past similar campaigns tomorrow.
